I want to share with you all the story of my dad and his sister! It all started about 2 or so years ago when my dad caught word that he had a halfsister. That started the search of a life time! So my Dad had tried to do investigating and all his leads hit a dead end! So the story went that my Grandpa and his highschool sweetheart found out she was pregnant. Well back in the 60's if you had got a girl pregnant you were to marry her. Well that didn't happen so she was forced to go live at a home for women where she later gave up her daughter for adoption. So lets fast foward about 2 years. My grandpa then met my grandma, they get married and had my dad! My dad's sister was kept a secret from him his whole life until about 2 years ago when someone let the cat out of the bag and informed him he had a sister and that she was adopted. So my dad went on this search, everyone he talked to either knew something and wouldn't tell or they heard of it but didn't know much. So we tried to do family trees, ancestory searches and people searches. So after awhile he gave up and lost hope. All we had to go on was her birth mother's name. So turns out about a week ago her birth mother had passed away. Turns out that when the daughter had gotten older she formed a relationship with her mother. She just so happened to be mentioned in the obituary. My Great Aunt had gave us a name and the state and city she lived in, so I took it upon myself to look her up on Facebook. I was nervous but I sent her a message and a friend request, I let her know that she has a brother and she may be my aunt. Turns out SHE WAS! I was so exited. I just had to tell my dad that we had finally found her. So she and I had sent a few messages backand fowards, and exchanged numbers. So when I had gotten home that night my dad got to call her. It was a moment I will never forget. They talked on the phone for 2 hours! They had made plans to meet. Well today We met her half way and we all had the BEST time just talking and catching up on a lifetime. I was not only proud of myself but I was exited about our new addition to our family! |
